UH Hamilton’s decision not to support Open Access Week
This semester Hamilton’s Library Administration decided it will not be supporting Open Access Week or allowing Open Access Week activities in the library.
The Library Administration claims to support open access but did not discuss the contradiction of the decision not to support Open Access Week, or provide the reasons why they might not be able to support OA Week.
UH’s Center for Teaching Excellence agreed to host OA Week activities
Sustaining Open Access, Creative Commons Licenses, Open Access at UH Panel Discussion, Alternative Metrics, and Food insecurity at the UH system were the events hosted this year.
LIS Students Coordinate OA Week event
LIS students coordintaed a showing of “Paywall: The Business of Scholarship” in one of the LIS Department’s classrooms.
Ideas for Next Year?
Can student organizations collaborate to organize Open Access Week, since the library will no longer support it?
Would the library permit students to host OA weeks in the library?
